This unique edition of the Buck SPECIAL 119 has a full tang blade made of corrosion-resistant 420HC steel, designed as a clip point blade with fuller. The proportions of the knife are perfect, with the 15 cm long blade both visually and functionally ideal for the 27 cm overall length. The knife is made in the USA, at Post Falls/Idaho. The anniversary knife features a 75-year medallion (1942-2017) in the handle, and 75 is also stamped on the blade The attractive leather sheath is embossed with a 75-year logo.

A knife with a history
The very first Buck knife, made by Hoyt Buck in 1902, was also a fixed-blade knife. It was essentially the original version of today's classic 119 SPECIAL The history of this knife actually began in 1942, when the American government requested donations of knives to arm US troops following the attack on Pearl Harbour. In response, Hoyt Buck began making the first Type 119 knives in the basement of his local church. Since then it has been redesigned and developed multiple times, and in 2017 the Buck 119 SPECIAL celebrates its 75th anniversary. The current version, except for minor modifications, has been around since the early 1980s.

Good to know:
420HC steel is Buck's standard blade material because it combines the wear resistance of a high-strength carbon steel with the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Add to this the special Buck heat treatment process, and you have an extremely user-friendly blade that offers both outstanding edge retention and excellent corrosion resistance plus a high degree of hardness and durability. Furthermore, this type of blade is very easy to resharpen. A Rockwell hardness of 58 Rc is achieved.
